
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) had been on the lookout for a 79-year-old woman reported missing in Lauderdale Lakes, but said search came to a relieving end when she was found. According to WSVN, Ida May Hendricks was last seen Thursday at around 10 p.m. in the 2300 block of Northwest 37th Terrace.
At the time of her disappearance, Hendricks was described as standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, clad in beige shorts and a T-shirt of an unknown color. Suffering from dementia, Hendricks was also burdened with several medical problems that necessitated medication. This information was relayed by her caretaker who expressed deep concern for her well-being.
The call for public assistance to locate Hendricks thankfully saw positive resolution. In a follow-up report by the Broward Sheriff’s Office post on X, they announced, "MISSING PERSON LOCATED: Detectives with BSO's Missing Persons Unit have located 79-year-old Ida May Hendricks missing from Lauderdale Lakes." It was a major collective sigh of relief for all involved.

Investigators found Hendricks in Coral Springs, a significant distance from where she was last seen. The BSO did not release details on how she ended up in Coral Springs or her condition when found. However, Hendricks, who had been the subject of a widespread search, was safely reunited with her caretaker. The Broward Sheriff’s Office announcement on X did not disclose further specifics regarding the circumstances of her recovery.
