Four teenagers were taken into custody late Sunday evening after a string of violent robberies, including a carjacking and a gunpoint theft in Nashville. According to a release by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the group's crime spree came to a halt when officers, aided by an MNPD helicopter, tracked down the silver 2015 Chrysler 200 stolen just one day prior.
Surveillance operations led to the spotting of the stolen vehicle, which the suspects used to rob two men at gunpoint outside the Mosaic Apartments. The helicopter crew witnessed the crime, subsequently alerting ground detectives. Fleeing the location, the criminals were intercepted on Murfreesboro Pike at East Thompson Lane where the police put a stop to their escape. Three, with Tha Wah, 18, behind the wheel, attempted to evade capture on foot but were quickly detained, while the youngest, Htoo Moo, 15, surrendered inside the car.
Upon searching the Chrysler, authorities uncovered two handguns, a stash of marijuana, and roughly $1,600 in cash. The subsequent search at residences on Luna Drive and Darlene Drive turned up an additional stolen handgun, ammunition, and pepper spray. All items seized during the investigation were detailed in the same police report.
The charges brought against Nathan Naw, Tha Wah, and Saw Say, all 18 years of age, include aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery, and motor vehicle theft. They remain behind bars, waiting for further proceedings. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old suspect, Htoo Moo, facing aggravated robbery charges, will have his day in Juvenile Court. The police are digging deeper into their involvement in additional robberies, which could lead to more charges.
