A double shooting followed by a car crash in Laveen, a Phoenix neighborhood, yesterday morning left one man dead and another injured. Phoenix Police were called to the scene at approximately 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of 51st and Southern Avenues, where the first victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound at a gas station. As reported by AZFamily, the injured man was quickly transported to a hospital where his condition was deemed non-life-threatening.
In a related incident, a home just north of Southern Avenue was struck by a car driven by a second man, who also sustained a gunshot wound. Despite the fact that a car had crashed into the house, police believe the gunshot was the cause of death, according to information obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
The intertwined nature of the crime scenes prompted authorities to close off traffic in both areas while investigators worked to untangle the sequence of events leading to the violence. A local resident, identified as Jonathan by FOX 10 Phoenix, expressed his surprise at the disturbance, saying "It’s normally pretty calm around here… nothing out of the ordinary really happens." He added, "People just like to come over here and get their water really quick and really surprised to see something like this is happening right now."
