An Orland Park man has been slapped with charges after a deadly shootout in Oak Forest claimed one life and left three injured, including a young girl, police said Wednesday.

Omar Zegar, 37, is facing a felony charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, with a revoked firearm owner's ID card following the Sunday evening chaos, as The Chicago Sun-Times reported. Zegar was arrested the same night, and Cook County authorities are considering piling on additional charges as the investigation unfolds.

The violent confrontation left 39-year-old Mohannad Othman dead from a gunshot to the head. The shooting, which reportedly took place outside Othman's family home in the 5500 block of Babette Court, was captured on a neighbor's surveillance system. Video showed Othman arriving at the residence shortly before the shooting ensued.

Othman was taken to a nearby hospital after the incident and was later pronounced dead, another victim, a 12-year-old girl, was wounded while standing in a neighboring driveway and is now in stable condition, according to FOX 32 Chicago. A 19-year-old man also sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and has since been released from the hospital.

"Mohannad was a victim to a senseless crime," his sister Hanadi Othman said in a statement shared by his niece, as obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times. Further details revealed that a woman also fled the home during the confrontation, seeking help from neighbors.

Meanwhile, police discovered Zegar in the 5900 block of 159th Street along with a 19-year-old woman who also suffered a gunshot injury; both were taken into custody, and the woman was treated at a hospital. Zegar's scheduled detention hearing took place Wednesday at the Bridgeview courthouse, though the outcomes of this hearing have not yet been publicized.
