Matthew John Sanguine, a 46-year-old Orlando man, found himself in a high-speed chase with the law—but it wasn't behind the wheel of a luxury vehicle as he might have hoped. Instead, Sanguine was arrested after attempting to pick up a 2018 McLaren 570S, a car he fraudulently "purchased" using a stolen identity. This incident occurred at the Infiniti of Coral Gables dealership, as reported by Local 10 News.
This was not Sanguine's first rodeo, according to police. He initially bought a 2020 Porsche Taycan from the same dealership on March 20, the entire transaction conducted via email—already a suspicious move in the annals of luxury car shopping. Local 10 News reported that he sent a photo of the victim's driver's license, complete with the victim's very own photo, and also, misused his Social Security number to seal the deal.
The Porsche, valued at nearly $80,000 was shipped to his Central Florida residence, aiming to add the McLaren, worth $124,000, to his illegal collection. But law enforcement had different plans. Sanguine's latest grand auto fantasy came to a screeching halt when Coral Gables police intercepted him at the dealership. Another source by sortliarus confirmed that after the Porsche was sent to his home, Sanguine wasn't content and went back to the well one time too many, attempting to pick up the McLaren himself from South Florida.
Despite Sanguine's plans, he never took possession of the McLaren, and the authorities managed to recover the Porsche. He is now facing the music with six felony charges, two counts each for first-degree grand theft, fraudulent use of personal identification, and making false statements to financial institutions. He is currently taking a detour at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with bail set at $55,000 and under the shadow of an out-of-county warrant, as the reports state. According to Local 10 News, despite his best efforts, the suspect's dream drive turned into a ride in the back seat of a police cruiser—far from the luxurious interiors of the high-end cars he unlawfully claimed as his own.
