After nearly two decades of silence, the shackles of justice have closed on two men connected with a Phoenix double murder, dating back to 2006. Police have arrested 45-year-old Johnnie Herron and 46-year-old Johnny Maxwell, charging them with the deaths of Clarissia Saunders, 33, and Rhmon Brown, 27, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. The fateful incident occurred during what was meant to be a home invasion near 24th Street and Roser Road, turned deadly.

The tragic robbery gone wrong resulted in the shooting of Saunders and Brown, whose lives were claimed at the scene. Herron and Maxwell now face a slew of charges which, aside from the double homicide, remain undisclosed. While Herron's mugshot has been released to the public, Maxwell's image remains under wraps. According to a statement by Phoenix police, the case demanded an "extensive amount of effort" until all leads had dried up and it was handed over to the Cold Case Homicide Squad for further investigation.

It appears the cold case received renewed attention, leading to the discovery of fresh evidence. This breakthrough pointed detectives to Herron and Maxwell as the prime suspects in the lingering mystery of Saunders' and Brown's death. Maxwell reportedly was already in custody for unrelated charges, when the cold hand of his past finally caught up with him. On the other hand, Herron was apprehended last Friday, March 22, and is currently sitting in Maricopa County jail awaiting his reckoning.
