Early Tuesday morning, a Phoenix man met a violent end on a Peoria street, sparking an intensive search for his killer. 33-year-old Jordan Gonzalez was found shot to death on the pavement near 83rd Avenue and Jefferson Street, a discovery made under the cover of darkness at around 3:30 a.m. after someone reported what they mistook to be a seizure, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

Law enforcement officers and medical personnel rushed to the scene, eager to lend aid, but their efforts were in vain. Peoria Fire-Medical were the ones to initially confirm the gunshot wounds as the cause of Gonzalez's demise. Despite attempts to preserve life, the victim's story had already reached its grim conclusion there on the street, a quiet neighborhood turned the scene of a crime. "Officer’s [sic] rendered aid to the victim until Peoria Fire Medical responded to the scene and it was determined he had been shot," the police told FOX 10 Phoenix.

The details surrounding the shooting remain murky, with authorities suggesting an isolated incident "between individuals possibly known to each other," as reported by police. The Peoria Police Department hastened to assure the community that there was no broader danger, despite the suspect still being at large, a reassurance that might do little to alleviate the unease in a community shaken by such violence played out on its doorstep.
