Redwood City Man Arrested, Accused of Shooting at Occupied Vehicle on Lincoln AvenueSource: Redwood City Police Department

Redwood City police have apprehended a 21-year-old man in connection with a shooting that targeted a vehicle last month. The suspect has been identified as local resident Alan ViverosLara, and according to police reports, the altercation took place on the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue.

The incident occurred on March 6, when Redwood City Police Department (RCPD) officers were called to the vicinity of Lincoln and El Camino Real shortly after 11:30 PM. The two individuals in the vehicle reported to police an encounter with an assailant, who seemingly without motive, brandished a handgun and proceeded to shoot at them. Their vehicle was struck three times by gunfire, with two of the rounds alarmingly impacting near the driver's area. Miraculously, neither of the vehicle's occupants were injured. The suspect, however, managed to quickly disappear before officers could arrive on the scene.

After a thorough investigation, RCPD detectives were able to conclusively identify ViverosLara as the shooter. On April 3rd, they successfully located and arrested him. A search warrant executed at his residence led to the discovery of a Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun, believed to be the weapon used in the shooting incident. According to the RCPD press release, ViverosLara was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on a slew of charges, including the shooting.

"RCPD detectives conducted extensive follow up and determined the shooter to be Redwood City resident Alan ViverosLara," stated Lieutenant Nick Perna, Investigations Commander at the Redwood City Police Department. In the wake of the arrest and the subsequent search of ViverosLara's home, authorities are processing the evidence gathered to properly strengthen the case. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and further details about the investigation and potential charges have yet to be fully disclosed.
