Tax season may be winding down, but for Anoka County's senior and low-income residents, assistance is just around the corner as the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) gears up to offer help with property tax questions and forms.
According to Anoka County, starting June 11 and through July, volunteers trained in tax preparation will guide locals through the complexities of the M1PR form, this important document that helps residents claim refunds on property taxes paid and will be sent to the Minnesota Department of Revenue for processing.
Assistance sessions are spread across various centers with the schedule featuring the Mary Ann Young Center, Coon Rapids Senior Center, Murzyn Hall, Ham Lake Senior Center, and Fridley Community Center, the sessions are designed to cater to numerous community members, and each venue offering ample time for attendees to receive personalized service, as per the Anoka County.
Recognizing the digital divide and mobility issues that some residents may face, the RSVP has also arranged limited virtual appointments on June 18-19 and July 23-24 for those who can't make it in person, folks interested in a virtual help session should call the appointment line at 763-324-1480 to secure their spot.
