The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has activated a Silver Alert for Mark "Shoestring" Nichols, a 53-year-old man who was reported missing in East Tennessee. According to a WVLT report, Nichols was last seen in his hometown of Johnson City on March 27. The TBI has indicated that Nichols has numerous medical conditions which may impair his ability to return home safely without help.

Nichols is a white male, 6′1″ in height and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair complimented by a long, gray and white beard. One peculiar characteristic is that Nichols is missing two fingers on his left hand, the TBI stressed. The direction of travel for Nichols remained unclear, and the TBI has not suggested where he might have gone after he went missing.

In cooperation with the Johnson City Police Department, the TBI released the details surrounding Nichols' disappearance. "He was last seen at his residence in Johnson City on March 27 and last spoke with his family at 3:00 a.m. that morning," the TBI explained in a statement, sourced from a WATE article. Additionally, there's information suggesting that Nichols might be known to ride trains, a detail that could expand the geography of the search.

In a bid to amplify the chances of locating him, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation took to social media. A post on TBI's Facebook page reads, "A #TNSilverAlert has been issued for 53 y/o Mark 'Shoestring' Nichols. He has several medical conditions that may impair his ability to return safely without assistance." They implore anyone who has seen Nichols or has any information regarding his whereabouts to step forward and contact the Johnson City Police Department or reach out to TBI directly.
