For 80 long years, Smokey Bear has become the face of wilderness preservation, schooling folks young and old on the ins and outs of wildfire prevention. The USDA Forest Service’s most celebrated mascot will make a star appearance this Saturday for the Maple Grove Arbor Day celebration, a bash dedicated to leafy friends and environmental smarts.

Smokey's ready to cheese it up, standing by for selfies from noon until 3:00 P.M. at the Community Center. There's also a slew of activities aimed at teaching the community a thing or two. They've lined up experts to bring home their point. People can get up close and personal with some of nature's other majestic creatures, thanks to the U of M Raptor Center and the Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo, who're on deck to truly make it a wild afternoon.

According to Maple Grove's official Facebook page, the Arbor Day event is shaping up to be quite the educational shindig, complete with the chance to rub shoulders with Minnesota's local flora and fauna experts. It's designed to be more than just a day in the park, aiming to leave attendees with a greater sense of responsibility towards our natural habitats.
