A 14-year-old boy tragically lost his life after a minibike accident occurred in Fort Pierce, Florida, authorities confirmed. The Fort Pierce Police Department reported that the teen was riding on a minibike which failed to halt at a stop sign at the intersection of Birch Street and Soltman Avenue on Friday evening, leading to a collision with a large 2023 Ford F-250 pickup.

The young boy and one other passenger were ejected from the minibike due to the impact. Despite being rushed to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital with critical injuries, the 14-year-old passed away on Sunday, as WPTV reported. In an unsettling development, authorities shared that the other individual rode away from the scene with the damaged minibike, accompanied by two riders on another minibike.

Details surrounding who was controlling the minibike at the time of the accident remain uncertain, as none of the additional riders involved have been located, according to the Fort Pierce Police Department. The occupants of the pickup truck involved in the crash were unharmed and have been cooperating with law enforcement officials.
