AUSTIN – The Texas Division of Emergency Management is now accepting nominations for its annual recognition of excellence in emergency response and preparedness. The call for entries is for awards that honor distinguished services during crises, and a photo contest capturing the essence of Texas' disasters and the responses they've provoked, as reported by the TDEM.
Entries must find their way to the TDEM’s digital doorstep by April 26, as per the announcement. “The Texas Emergency Management Awards recognize leaders in public service and private sector support of emergency management activities,” said Chief Nim Kidd of TDEM, outlining the intent to duly honor those who've steadfastly served their communities. The awards ceremony is set to take place during the Texas Emergency Management Conference, slated for May 30 at the Fort Worth Convention Center, according to the Texas Division of Emergency Management.
A variety of categories will be celebrated, including the Hometown Hero, Leadership Award, and the Spouse of the Year, alongside the announcement of Hall of Fame inductees, to honor a cross-section of government officials, media, and others who stand out in emergency response and management sectors. The entities set to receive these accolades span from government to volunteer organizations, marking extraordinary contributions amid adversity.
