
Lowell, Massachusetts, was the site of a road clash this morning when a school bus collided with a Honda Civic, leaving the bus overturned and three people hospital-bound. According to NBC Boston, the incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Andover and Nesmith streets. Police indicated that the bus toppled onto its side in the mishap, which involved no child passengers.
On the scene, first responders found the school bus lying on its flank, with its two adult occupants sustaining minor wounds. They were promptly transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Honda, also suffering from minor injuries in the crash, received similar medical attention, WCVB reports. Lowell Public Schools confirmed the bus driver and a bus monitor were the persons injured inside the bus.
Photos floated around the internet depicting the aftermath of the encounter— a small, yellow bus on its side with the Honda Civic bearing extensive injuries to its front end. The driver of the Honda was the vehicle's only occupant at the time of the collision.
The school district, in a statement, announced that the driver and the bus monitor were hospitalized as a precautionary measure.
