
A hit-and-run incident near Balboa Park left a transient man severely injured, officials said. The accident occurred on Pershing Drive at B Street, as a 54-year-old man and his female companion were walking in the westbound bicycle lane.
According to the San Diego Police Department Watch Commander's Log, the unidentified male victim was hit by a motorist who veered into the bicycle lane for reasons unknown. The driver, described only as P1 in an official statement, fled the scene following the collision. The victim referred to as P2, was transported to a local hospital with a collapsed lung, a skull fracture, a C-spine fracture, a laceration to his lower lip, and an Intracerebral hemorrhage.
As of now, the suspect remains at large. The San Diego Police Department urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Traffic Division officers are currently investigating to determine the circumstances of the tragic accident and to locate the driver responsible for the man's critical injuries.
