A female tractor-trailer driver was shot in the leg amid her delivery of Google merchandise in Memphis, Tennessee. The incident occurred on Lamar Avenue near American Way, as reported Action News 5. She heard a noise that sounded like a gunshot as she piloted the rig down the avenue earlier today.
She initially continued to drive before hearing another gunshot, at which point she realized that her left leg had been shot, as driving the truck she found the injury. The Memphis Police Department was alerted to the shooting at around 5 a.m., in the 3500 block of Lamar Avenue, according to Local Memphis. The driver described the suspect's vehicle as a black Toyota Camry with dark-tinted windows.
The truck was carting 12 pallets of Google products at the time of the assault. As per the wounded driver's statement obtained by WREG, she believed that the Camry had been trailing her before firing the shots.
Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement seeks to determine the motive behind the attack and locate the suspect involved. The cargo, belonging to the tech giant Google, seemed incidental to an unfortunate morning turned violent, painting the streets not with movements of commerce but with the stark reminder that danger may loom unexpected, even within the flow of everyday traffic.
