Tragedy struck early Saturday in Miami's Liberty City, where a shooting at a Chevron gas station left two men dead and another critically wounded. The shooting occurred at the corner of Northwest 54 Street and 17 Avenue, a spot known more for the hum of commerce than the bang of gunfire.
Authorities have confirmed that Shahbaz Hussain and Shamun Shaukat were working at the station when the gunman, described as having long hair and a mustache and wearing a black top emblazoned with the word "Power," opened fire. The Miami Police Department, through Officer Michael Vega, shared these chilling details. Vega told Local 10 News that nothing was stolen, and the assailant fled the scene posthaste.
According to NBC Miami, the third victim, Elijah Shorter, remains in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Despite the severity of the incident, details about Shorter's condition have been sparse. However, witness footage showed him conscious as he was being loaded onto an ambulance, providing a glimmer of hope in the otherwise dark narrative.
Detectives are urging the public for any information. The identity of the assailant is still a mystery, investigators are calling on anyone with knowledge that could lead to an arrest to step forward and contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers.
