A tragic collision between a small boat and a yacht off Boca Chita Key claimed the lives of two men this past weekend. The deceased were identified as Jorge Marenco, 49, of Miami, and Jose Turcios, 51, from Beaumont, Texas, confirmed the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, as reported by NBC Miami

According to the commission, both men were on the 17-foot Key West center console that was involved in the crash with the 51-foot Azimut cabin cruiser. While traveling from Boca Chita to Black Point Marina, Marenco and Turcios collided with the yacht which was moving in the direction from Elliot Key toward Dinner Key Marina. Both vessels had seven people on board when the accident occurred.

The incident took place in Biscayne Bay on Sunday night. Critically injured, the two men were airlifted to a local hospital, where they subsequently succumbed to their injuries. The Miami Herald reported that no other injuries were reported in the collision.
