Two men were taken into custody after a pre-dawn armed robbery and carjacking in south Phoenix turned into a police chase, officials say. The Phoenix Police Department reports that around 4 a.m. on April 4th, the suspects confronted a man near 35th Avenue and Baseline Road, coercing him at gunpoint to withdraw cash from an ATM.

The victim, who was compelled to visit a nearby store to extract money from the machine, managed to escape his captors and alert the authorities; the suspects then made away with his vehicle police engaged quickly in pursuit after the robbery which led to a residential area near 27th and Southern avenues, where the suspects abandoned the car and attempted to escape on foot but were ultimately apprehended by police officials, "Officers pursued the car leading to the suspects running on foot and eventually being taken into custody," Fox 10 Phoenix reported.

The identities of the suspects have not yet been released, and the victim was fortunately unharmed during the incident.
