Two 16-year-old suspects have been arrested and charged with a violent stabbing and robbery of a teenager in North Miami Beach, authorities confirmed. Jeanluis Aran Torres Suarres and Jackson Morales are facing grave accusations, each charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder and attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, as detailed in arrest reports from the North Miami Beach Police Department.

The incident, which occurred near the 1800 block of South Glades Drive around 1 a.m. Tuesday, began when the victim, also a 16-year-old, was escorting a friend home on an electric scooter and the suspects reportedly engaged them on a black moped, the police disclosed the chase ensued which escalated quickly as the attackers, armed with knives, inflicted severe lacerations on the young victim. According to police, the victim's friend managed to escape to call for help while the horrific attack transpired, Local 10 News reported.

The attack which was so brutal that the victim's friend had to improvise a tourniquet to keep the victim's intestines from spilling out, necessitated an emergency surgery at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital—thankfully, the victim survived. Exclusive police body camera footage was obtained by Local 10 News, revealing the harrowing moments as officers came upon the victim who was visibly in severe pain.

The suspects had fled the scene with the victim's scooter and an iPhone 13, yet their escape was short-lived, Morales was caught by police on the stolen scooter which led to the identification of Torres Suarres through social media, both suspects now find themselves detained at a juvenile detention center, the authorities are holding them as they await upcoming legal proceedings. They refused to speak to detectives without their lawyers present, "It's scary and it's crazy, You aren’t expecting to wake up to hearing people are stabbed where you live," Mary Munoz, a resident of North Miami Beach told Great News Lighting, expressing the community's shock over the vicious attack.

The suspects and victim had a past connection, as the victim's friend recognized Morales from their time together at North Miami Beach Senior High last year, this is per the investigators who have continued piecing together the circumstances of that night. The accused teens are now awaiting their fate at the Juvenile Assessment Center in Miami-Dade, where a judge's decision hangs in the balance.
