US Marshals Nab Suspects in Tennessee and Mississippi First-Degree Murder CasesSource: Google Street View

Two alleged murderers wanted for separate slayings, have been brought to book by U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement agencies in Tennessee and Mississippi. The first, Quaverre Rogers, a 27-year-old from Southaven, Mississippi, was taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting during the NCAA's March Madness. Hoping to quickly bring the suspect to justice, authorities have charged him with Second-Degree Murder, which was subsequently upgraded to First-Degree Murder by a grand jury, according to a press release from the U.S. Marshals.

On the trail of another accused killer, the Marshals swiftly moved to apprehend Jessica Harris, a 35-year-old Memphis resident, an hour later. She was sought for a shooting that resulted in a man's death in Verona, Mississippi. Fugitive task forces have become instrumental in such operations, leveraging inter-agency cooperation to close in on those who run from the law.

Rogers was nabbed at a hotel in Olive Branch, Mississippi, and is now waiting for extradition back to Tennessee. Damein Hawkins, aged 52, was the unfortunate victim in the Beale Street shootout outside Jerry Lee Lewis Café on March 17. Harris, in her part, is implicated in a lethal confrontation that transpired last summer at a Verona apartment complex which left 22-year-old Christian Ramos dead. Indictments for First-Degree Murder and Shooting into a Dwelling were swiftly issued, and her arrest at the 1419 Oberle Avenue domicile in Memphis was executed without complications.

Accolades for these arrests can partially go to the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF), a conglomerate of law enforcement entities within Western Tennessee. This formidable group contains Deputy U.S. Marshals, officers from multiple county sheriff's departments, local police, special agents, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Since commencing operations in 2021, they have proved to efficiently capture more than 2,600 violent fugitives and sexual predators. As these cases press forward to trial, the dedication of the TRVFTF shows no sign of waning.
