
A tragic morning in Lincoln, Massachusetts, as a head-on collision left one woman dead and two others injured, authorities confirmed. The crash, involving a Jeep Wrangler and a Chevy Silverado, occurred on Route 117 near Sweet Bay Lane, where officials said the Jeep veered into oncoming traffic and struck the Silverado.
The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at Emerson Hospital following the crash that took place at around 9:13 a.m. today, according to a joint statement released by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lincoln Acting Police Chief Sean Kennedy, as reported by Boston25News. A passenger from the Jeep and the Chevy’s driver were also hospitalized with injuries believed not to be life-threatening.
The collision resulted in the closure of Route 117 between the Concord town line and Route 126 for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation at the scene. As of Thursday afternoon, no immediate cause for the abrupt swerve by the Jeep has been stated by officials. Whether the storm that morning played a factor is yet to be determined.
The district attorney’s office, Lincoln police, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Reconstruction Section are all actively involved in unveiling the circumstances that led to the deadly incident, according to the information obtained by NBC Boston. The identity of the woman who tragically lost her life in the collision has not yet been released, pending family notification.
