Early Monday morning, a 26-year-old woman was shot in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, inciting a heavy police and SWAT team response. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the shooting occurred around midnight on the 7700 block of South South Shore Drive, leaving the woman with a gunshot wound to her shoulder.
After being taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, the suspected gunman was believed to have fled into a nearby residential building, setting off a manhunt that continued well into the morning hours. A SWAT team was deployed to the area, and the scene remained active as of 6:30 A.M., with few details immediately available.
