Residents in Wright County have a chance to safely dispose of outdated or unused prescription meds at the upcoming Drug Take Back Day, slated for April 27. According to an announcement from the county, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature two drop-off points: the Albertville Coborn’s and Citizens State Bank of Waverly – Montrose Office.
The county is urging participants to ideally leave their pills in their original containers, taking care to black out any personal information to maintain privacy. If the original packaging isn't available, drugs should be sealed securely within a plastic bag. Notably, liquids are off the table and won't be accepted. However, individuals can also bring in used vape cartridges, but only if the batteries have been removed.
Organizers are promising a swift drive-thru experience to ensure convenience and minimal contact. This approach is part of an ongoing effort to prevent prescription drugs from falling into the wrong hands or contaminating the environment by pitching them into the garbage or flushing them down the toilet.
Both collection sites will operate under the drive-thru model, seeking to swiftly take medications off people's hands while limiting direct contact. "Those bringing prescription medication are urged to leave the medication in original container if possible while blacking out identifying information," says the official county notice. It's a simple, responsible way for Wright County citizens to ensure to proper disposal of these substances.
