11-Year-Old Chandler Prodigy Opens Creative Apparel Store at Fashion CenterSource: Amazing Audrina Designs

Chandler, Arizona's newest entrepreneur, Audrina Nguyen-Oerzen, is an 11-year-old girl whose passion for art has catapulted her into the business world with her clothing and accessory line, Audrina’s Amazing Designs. Barely into her preteens, she has transformed her artwork into a thriving business venture. The young visionary has just opened her own store at Chandler Fashion Center, placing her creative designs within arm's reach of the eager public.

Nguyen-Oerzen's journey began when her mother, Jillian Nguyen, received an unexpected phone call back in 2020 from a friend, wanting to place an order. "At first, she was telling me it was an idea and then all of a sudden, I received a phone call from one of her friend’s mom saying she wanted to place an order, and I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’" Jillian told ABC15 in an 2023 interview. That initial confusion turned into an awe-inspiring realization as Audrina’s Amazing Designs took form, beginning with designs printed on shirts, and eventually expanding to include other apparel and plush toys sold online and at local farmers' markets.

It's not just aesthetics that Audrina brings to her work; her cultural heritage plays a central role as well. With a Vietnamese background, she incorporates her family's traditions into her creations, "Sometimes, I see my grandma eating something so I’m like, 'oh, that’s so cool, I’m going to make that into a character,'" Audrina said in a statement obtained by ABC15. The result is a vibrant collection that showcases Asian culture through clothing, from adult sizes down to baby garments.

The youngster’s entrepreneurial spirit is matched by her mother’s dedication to ensuring the longevity and quality of the products. Jillian explained, "The way they print their clothes, it’s meant to last longer than just a picture that’s ironed on a shirt." She has poured significant time into researching printing techniques that integrate designs into the fabric itself. This attention to detail promises a product that stands the test of time. Despite her age, Audrina harbors big dreams for the future, hoping to one day pass her burgeoning enterprise onto her own children. With the support she has received thus far, she remains thankful and motivated, stating, "Some people are like, ‘Oh, you’re not going to succeed, you’re just a kid.’ But, I’m really thankful for the people that give me good feedback and they support me."

The reveal of Audrina’s storefront in Chandler, nestled between Bath and Body Works and the Wetzel's Pretzels, marks a significant milestone in her fledgling career. The store, which opened its doors on May 24, is a testament to her hard work and a hint at the potential of the valley's younger generation. For those interested in catching a glimpse of Audrina’s designs, a digital showcase is available online.
