An 18-year-old has been hit with serious charges after authorities say he hijacked a vehicle at gunpoint in Chicago. Otavion Miller, of the 6800 block of S. Throop St., now faces one count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm and another count for armed robbery, law enforcement officials report.
Chicago Police stated that Miller was apprehended yesterday in the 5200 block of S. Peoria St. after allegedly forcing a 45-year-old man to surrender his vehicle and personal belongings less than an hour earlier in a separate location within the same district. The incident, which occurred in the 5200 block of S. Green St., saw the victim confronted and robbed by Miller, who was later caught and arrested by the 9th District Police.
The accused's detention hearing is scheduled for today at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California. As of now, no further details about the case have been released.
Miller, who is being detained, was identified through investigation and now awaits the legal process to unfold. The Chicago Police Department has provided a statement declaring the charges but made it clear that more information will be forthcoming as the case develops.
