Chicago police have arrested an 18-year-old man identified as Donte Brown in connection with an armed robbery of a young woman earlier this year. According to authorities, Brown was taken into custody on Monday in the 3100 block of W. Flournoy St. and faces one felony count of armed robbery with a firearm, a grim statistic in the city's ongoing battle with violent crime.
Officials narrated the turn of events, telling Chicago Police Department outlets that Brown allegedly brandished a weapon and took property from a 26-year-old female victim. The incident occurred approximately at 1:30 a.m. on February 20, 2024, riding a wave of rising armed robberies in the 5100 block of W. Washington Blvd. He will face a detention hearing in Cook County Criminal Courthouse today.
Brown's arrest is pending a judge's decision, as the wheels of justice start to turn at the detention hearing located at 2600 S. California.
