Acworth's City Council kicked off National Safe Boating Week with a salute to the sea savers. In their regular Thursday meeting, Alderman Prather handed over the National Safe Boating Week Proclamation to the Coast Guard Auxiliary. The proclamation spans May 18-24, and it's a big wave for promoting boating safety and supporting the overarching goals of the Safe Boating Campaign.
The city's waterfront guardians, represented by Greg Fonzeno, Division Chief, and Victor Reyes, Secretary, were on deck to receive the prestigious proclamation. According to the City of Acworth, the initiative is a shout-out to all mariners to stay sharp and secure on the swell.
It's more than just a piece of paper; this annual observance thrusts the spotlight on the crucial crusade for nautical know-how and the prevention of maritime mishaps. As pleasure boaters start to make a beeline for the blue, the timing couldn't be more perfect. The efforts by the Auxiliary — a civilian volunteer arm of the U.S. Coast Guard — have been pivotal, ensuring that the boating community remains well-informed and prepared.
