In a late-night crackdown on May 28, Massachusetts State Police brought the hammer down on an alleged drug trafficker in Brockton. Trooper Austin Rose, of the Milton Barracks, while on traffic duty, sighted a black Cadillac committing a lane violation on Route 27. The vehicle's driver, identified as 40-year-old Louis Weekenson of Hyde Park, soon attracted further police scrutiny for speeding down West Street, officials said.
The stop escalated after Trooper Rose detected the strong scent of burnt marijuana emanating from the Cadillac. When questioned about the odor, Weekenson failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of a scale with suspect white powder, prompting a more thorough examination.
Backed up by Trooper Corey McLaughlin, a subsequent search unearthed a veritable arsenal and stash — including a Glock 23 with a large capacity magazine, additional ammunition, a sizable quantity of crack cocaine, multiple bags of fentanyl, and a battery of other powdered narcotics. Also found in the car was a large machete, all of which, complicate Weekenson's position, given his lack of a firearm permit. His charges, as listed by the State Police, include multiple counts of drug trafficking, firearm possession offenses, and traffic violations.
Following the seizure and arrest, Weekenson was processed at the Milton barracks, then arraigned in Brockton District Court. The charges against him paint a grim portrait of a man steeped in the drug trade, armed and dangerous. Acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations, the court proceedings have ensured that Weekenson faces a justice system with little tolerance for trafficking, especially when twinned with firearm offenses, the police report states.
