Bruster's Real Ice Cream Debuts in Aurora with Colorful Grand Opening CelebrationSource: Facebook/Bruster's Real Ice Cream

Aurora's newest sweet spot, Bruster's Real Ice Cream, kicked off its grand opening celebration with a three-day sugar rush this Mother's Day weekend. After opening its doors in March, the popular East Coast chain finally brought its over 200 flavors of handcrafted ice cream to the Chicago area. According to a report by NBC Chicago, this marks the first time Bruster's has planted its cones in Illinois soil.

Judy Kim and Tony Ford, Aurora residents who spearheaded the Bruster's move to 2440 S. Eola Rd, made Kim's dream come to life, the city of Aurora revealed. The store boasts a minimum of 24 flavors on any given day, spanning from classics to creative twists like the limited May offerings Caramel Brownie Batter and Strawberry Shortcake. The company, not content with just scooping ice cream, also provides sherbet, sorbet, and artisan desserts, spinning out choices for sweet-tooths of all persuasions.

The treat haven's ribbon-cutting was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, setting off a lineup of festivities including family-friendly games, a live DJ, and a dance contest. Even more, the first 50 attendees to the ribbon-cutting snagged themselves a free two-scoop cone, as detailed in a Chicago Tribune report. These shindigs underscored Bruster's commitment to embed itself within the local community fabric — a scoop at a time.

The Bruster's venture into Illinois was two years in the making, having received Aurora City Council's thumbs up back in March 2022. The Aurora shop is the first of several planned Illinois locations, with another scoop shop slated for Oak Brook Terrace. All this expansion is part of a grander scale plan for the Bridgewater, Pennsylvania-based chain which has been serving frozen treats since 1989, across 22 states and as far as Guyana. With roots deep in homemade tradition, each batch of ice cream starts with a proprietary mix from the company's dairy, delivered fresh to its shops to be churned into a delectable array of flavors.
