Chicago is on alert as detectives desperately search for gunmen in two separate homicide cases this month. According to the Chicago Police Department, suspects involved in a shooting that led to a homicide on the 7900 block of S. Cottage Grove Ave. on May 5th are at large. Witnesses reported seeing the suspects discharging weapons around 5:06 PM before fleeing in dark-colored SUVs.
The police stated that the suspects are African-American males who appear to be between the ages of 15 and 25. In a bid to quickly identify and apprehend the individuals, the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Residents are advised to call 9-1-1 immediately if they spot the suspects, providing details such as location and direction of travel, but to never approach the subjects themselves for their safety.
In a separate but similarly violent incident, the police are also seeking help in identifying two other African-American male suspects linked to a homicide on the 7900 block of S. Rhodes Avenue on April 30th. This incident, which occurred at the stroke of midnight, added another grim chapter to the city's ongoing battle with gun violence.
Details provided describe one of the offenders as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt paired with dark sweatpants featuring a white string, light-colored gym shoes, and long braided hair. The second suspect is noted to have a heavy build and was last seen wearing a multi-color hooded jacket or sweatshirt. Area 2 detectives are looking into both incidents earnestly trying to bring those responsible to justice. Community cooperation is vital, and the Chicago Police urge those with any relevant knowledge to help by reporting sightings and information with full assurance that they do not need to put themselves at any undue risk.
