A 16-year-old male faces serious charges, including attempted vehicular hijacking and assault with a deadly weapon, after a series of alleged crimes on the West Side. The juvenile, whose identity has not been released due to his age, will have to quickly respond to these accusations.
The Chicago Police Department reported the arrest took place on May 22 at 8:03 a.m., shortly after the offender purportedly carried out the crimes. The indictment includes one felony count of attempted vehicular hijacking and one of unlawful vehicular invasion, combined with aggravated assault charges for reportedly threatening two individuals at gunpoint. According to the official report, the young suspect is also being charged with criminal damage to property and possession of a weapon under the age of 21.
The accused, according to police details, forcibly entered a 50-year-old woman's car in the 3200 block of W. Fulton and attempted to hijack the vehicle. Reports suggest that the teenager did not stop there, turning to aggressively confront two other victims, aged 31 and 32. The suspect allegedly used a deadly weapon to threaten these individuals before inflicting damage on a 28-year-old woman's vehicle and then fleeing.
The police managed to apprehend the juvenile shortly after these incidents. A detention hearing is scheduled for today at the Juvenile Detention Center located at 1100 S. Hamilton Ave. As the justice system prepares to thoroughly examine these charges, additional information on the case remains presently unavailable.
