A Chicago woman has been slapped with a felony charge for a brazen act of vehicular hijacking. Law enforcement officials reported that Shameka Jones, 29, of the 1200 block of S. Springfield Ave., was charged with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking using a firearm.
According to the Chicago Police Department, Jones was apprehended by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force in the early hours of May 23, 2024, shortly after 1 a.m. on the 1300 block of S. Harding Ave. She was identified as the suspect who, along with others, had earlier seized a vehicle at gunpoint from a 35-year-old man in the 4700 block of W. Fifth Ave.
A detention hearing was held yesterday, May 25, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California.
As the case unfolds, the Chicago Police remain tight-lipped, disclosing no further details about the incident or the investigation, emphasizing only that Jones is now facing serious charges for her involvement in the hijacking.
