
A 19-year-old from Cicero, Illinois, Juan Loredo, has been hit with a barrage of charges after allegedly opening fire on a vehicle, injuring three people earlier this month. The Chicago Police Department confirmed that Loredo, residing on the 1800 block of S. Central Ave, faces five felony counts of attempted murder in the first degree and three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm.
According to the police report, the violent incident that thrust Loredo into the legal spotlight unfurled in the wee hours of May 5, when he alleged to have unleashed a flurry of bullets into an occupied vehicle sitting in the 1600 block of N. Cicero Ave. Among the victims were a 25-year-old female, a 36-year-old male, and another man aged 37, the offender didn't stop there, he’s also charged with two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle.
The apprehension of the suspect ensued less than a fortnight after the shooting. Loredo was taken in on May 20 in the 5600 block of Old Orchard Rd. in Skokie, Illinois. Law enforcement subsequently charged him following his identification as the alleged gunman. His detention hearing is set for today at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California.
In the wake of the shootings, details concerning the circumstances and the motive behind the incident remain scant. Authorities have withheld further information as the investigation is ongoing, and Loredo's legal representation has yet to make a public statement on the charges.
