DC cops are on the hunt for a brazen robber who swiped a moped from a man waiting for a food delivery in broad daylight, officials said.
The robbery unfolded in the 1700 block of New Jersey Avenue, Northwest on May 25 at about 11:10 a.m. The victim was ambushed while waiting for an Uber Eats order, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department. The suspect is accused of assaulting the victim, snatching his moped when he dropped it, and then taking off.
"The suspect approached and assaulted the victim. When the victim dropped his property, the suspect took the property and left the scene," according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Detectives have released no descriptions of the suspect, but they are scouring the area for surveillance footage and speaking to potential witnesses. Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the whereabouts of the moped is urged to come forward and contact the authorities.
The MPD is keeping details of the ongoing investigation under wraps, but they are treating the incident with the utmost seriousness. The police are asking anyone with tips to reach out to them.
