
A deadly crash in Fremont claimed the life of a driver early Tuesday morning, according to local authorities. The collision, around 12:30 a.m. near Thornton Avenue and Fremont Boulevard, resulted in the driver's vehicle catching fire after striking a tree.
Fremont Police have since warned residents and commuters to avoid the stretch of Fremont Boulevard from Thornton to Peralta Boulevard as investigators and first responders attended to the aftermath of the incident. Following the crash, reported by Mercury News, the road was expected to be closed through much of the morning.
An additional casualty was reported, although the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. As the morning wore on, details of the crash remained scant, with police gradually piecing together the harrowing events that led to this tragic outcome.
Details of the collision have been confirmed via the Fremont Police Department's X account, which issued a statement urging people to avoid the area due to the "major collision overnight".
