A South Nashville Dollar General became the scene of a harrowing crime Wednesday when five teenagers, aged between 13 and 18, allegedly carjacked a 34-year-old woman at gunpoint, authorities reported. The suspects were taken into custody after a dramatic chase, which saw the involvement of the Metro police's helicopter, according to a WKRN report.
The ordeal unfolded at the Dollar General store on Lafayette Street, where the victim was threatened with a gun to her head, a detail revealed by WSMV. Police aerial surveillance tracked the teens after they took off in the stolen car, ultimately abandoning the vehicle and attempting to flee on foot. All five were apprehended, and three firearms were seized in the process, the police detailed.
Among the captured is 18-year-old Jevon Harrison, who faces charges including carjacking, gun possession by a convicted felon, evading arrest, attempted escape and contributing to the delinquency of minors, as verified by metro police. Harrison, previously convicted of auto theft in February and subsequently placed on probation, now sees his bond set at $45,000 by a judicial commissioner, FOX 17 News reported.
In a turn of events, all five teens have made bail, as police disclosed.
