According to the Fremont Police Department, a report occurred around 5 a.m. regarding a vehicle mishap at the Auto Mall Parkway and Osgood Road intersection. Upon arrival, officers observed the driver and passenger asleep and unresponsive, with an open can of alcohol present, posing an immediate hazard near community members.

Officers quickly mitigated the threat by creating a public safety block to prevent the stationary but running vehicle from potentially causing further harm. As stated by the Fremont PD’s account, after gaining entry to the car, officers and, shortly thereafter, firefighters determined that the occupants required urgent medical attention. Both the driver and passenger were administered multiple doses of Narcan, a rapid antidote for opioid overdoses, before regaining consciousness.
The involvement of emergency services continued, with paramedics transporting the once-unresponsive individuals to a local hospital for further medical care. Following the completion of the on-scene investigation, the driver was arrested for DUI, specifically for driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.01 percent or greater, while on probation for a prior DUI offense, as outlined in Vehicle Code 23154(a).
