Gunfire in Downtown Memphis Injures Two Security Guards Outside Club Amid Parking DisputeSource: Flywithjohn at English Wikipedia, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Chaos erupted in downtown Memphis late Saturday night when gunfire broke out between two vehicles, leading to two security guards being shot at outside a club. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of North Danny Thomas Boulevard and Adams Avenue, has prompted an investigation by the Memphis Police Department, as reported by Action News 5.

Responding officers found one security guard with a superficial wound to the face, apparently grazed by a bullet. Police say the guard reported noticing two dark-colored vehicles engaged in a shootout as he and a colleague crossed the street, as stated by WREG. Emergency units responded to the scene, but despite the injury, the guard refused hospitalization.

The situation seemingly stemmed from a dispute over parking at the Level 3 Club on Adams Avenue. A verbal altercation had occurred between the security team and occupants of a black Dodge Charger and a blue Chevrolet Camaro. FOX13 Memphis reports that one of the guards admitted to returning fire, discharging a borrowed handgun four times in the direction of the assailants' vehicles.

The Memphis Police Department was unable to locate shell casings and no local businesses appeared to have been damaged in the crossfire. Furthermore, malfunctioning surveillance equipment hindered the investigation, as the camera on Adams Avenue was reported to be out of order, leaving authorities without prospective leads on those responsible for the incident.
