The Haltom City Police Department, with aid from both federal and local law enforcement, has made significant headway in the murder investigation of Eric Martiz Hill, Jr. after the crime shook the community on May 23. According to the Haltom City Police Department, the suspects Eli Gaibeth Martinez Sanchez, 23, and Deja Shanta Burt Roberts, 24, were captured in Wellington, Kansas, under a coordinated dragnet.
Following up on a lead that suggested the suspects had fled to Kansas, Haltom City detectives quickly mobilized, engaging with the US Marshal Fugitive Task Force that was instrumental in the manhunt. In the pursuant of justice, detectives were said to establish “strong communication and coordination” with Kansas law enforcement agencies, which were critical to the duo's capture, although caught, the suspects' alleged connection to the Hill murder turned cold up until this point.
Suspects Martinez Sanchez and Roberts now await further legal proceedings, being held on a hefty $100,000 bond each. Haltom City Police detectives are continuing their work, conducting interviews and assembling more evidence to solidify the case against them.
The police department's gratitude was openly extended to those who stood by its side during the strenuous investigation, as they expressed in their online shout-out. Cherished law enforcement partners including the United States Marshals Service, Topeka Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, City of Haysville Kansas Police, and Wellington Kansas Police Department, were pivotal, with Haltom City PD's promise to keep the public informed, as they announced, through further updates on the gravity of the investigation.
