
A tragic incident unfolded on the streets of Hayward, Calif., last Sunday when a vehicle struck a scooter, leaving the rider with fatal injuries. According to a statement released by the Hayward Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 4:43 p.m. at Mission Blvd. and Orchard Ave.
The Hayward Police report detailed that the 22-year-old male scooter rider, a resident, was found unresponsive at the scene of the crash. He was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility, where he fought for his life until succumbing to his injuries two days later, on May 10. The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old male also from Hayward, was unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement.
The identities of both individuals involved in the heartbreaking accident are currently withheld by authorities. In their ongoing investigation, the Hayward Police Department has ruled out drugs and/or alcohol as contributing factors to the collision.
