A 40-year-old Jacksonville man has been slapped with a 14-month federal prison term after letting loose a series of violent threats against the President, the First Family, and other political figures. Adam Ray Mouser, the internet tough guy from Brooklyn Avenue, will also spend 24 months under the watchful eye of Uncle Sam once he's out, a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of Illinois detailed.

Mouser, who used social media to broadcast his violent rants, didn't cool it even when the Secret Service showed up at his door. Instead, he doubled down, lobbing more threats at President Biden, a former president, an ex-Secretary of State, and lawmakers, according to evidence brought to light during his sentencing. "I believe it is common sense to not threaten to kill another individual," said U.S. District Court Judge Colleen R. Lawless, making it crystal clear that when you threaten the big cheese, you're going to get the book thrown at you.

Mouser, apparently not the sharpest knife in the drawer, pleaded guilty to his less-than-clever antics on January 19, a mere five months after the feds cuffed him. He's been cooling his heels in the clink courtesy of the U.S. Marshals Service since his arrest last August, bidding his time until his day in court.

The Secret Service teamed up with the Marshals and local Jacksonville police to put the case together, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah E. Seberger represented, the home team, hammering home the case against Mouser. Now, he's staring down a barrel of time in the big house—although, he could have gotten up to five years for his online blow-ups and a punch to the wallet as high as $250,000, according to the law.
