
A fatal altercation took place on the South Side of Chicago Thursday evening, leaving a 36-year-old man dead following a fight at a residence. The incident occurred approximately at 9:35 p.m. on the 2700 block of South Michigan Avenue. The argument between the victim and a 42-year-old man escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in trauma to the body of the younger man, according to the Chicago Tribune.
It was reported by the police that the victim was hurling threats towards the older man, which seemed to quickly inflame the deadly brawl. Authorities arrived to find the 36-year-old critically injured, immediately transporting him to UChicago Medicine. Despite the efforts to save him, he was promptly pronounced dead. The 42-year-old has since been taken into police custody, caught up in the wake of the altercation directly.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Sun-Times further clarifies that the two men were initially engaged in a verbal argument that tragically spiraled out of control, culminating in a fatal beating. The exact nature of the argument nor the identity of the 36-year-old man has yet to be disclosed as the investigation continues, with Area 3 detectives taking the lead on the case.
