A fatal officer-involved shooting left one man dead and another person, along with a Memphis Police officer, injured during a domestic incident in Raleigh, Memphis early Friday morning, authorities reported.

Responding to a disturbance call after 3 a.m. in the 3000 block of Dumbarton Road, Memphis Police were confronted by a scene of violence where a man was found suffering from a stab wound, as WREG detailed. Upon police entry into the residence, a suspect brandishing a knife allegedly charged at the officers, leading to the discharge of a firearm that fatally struck the individual.

The injured man and the suspect were quickly transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, though the accused assailant succumbed to their injuries. The condition of the stabbed man later stabilized, as documented by FOX13 Memphis. Meanwhile, an officer sustained injuries during the incident, however, it has been stressed by authorities that it was unrelated to the violent clash inside the home.

That officer was reported to have been taken to Methodist North Hospital, with the injuries described as non-critical, encompassing an aspect of the chaotic scene that left one community grappling with a sudden surge of violence. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has since taken the reins of the investigation into the shooting, aiming to untangle the circumstances that erupted in the early morning hours as per information by Action News 5.

As the community searches for answers, the Memphis Police Department has yet to release further details on the suspect's identity.
