A deadly encounter left a man dead in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago after he was discovered with a gunshot wound inside a crashed vehicle. The incident unfolded on Friday night around 7:20 p.m. on the 6700 block of Woodlawn Avenue, where first responders came onto the scene following alerts from a local who waved down the officers, according to Chicago Sun-Times.
Police found the car had careened into a wall and, upon further inspection, identified that the man had sustained a chest gunshot wound. Despite efforts to quickly save him, the victim was to ultimately succumb to his injuries. He was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, as FOX 32 Chicago reported, but was pronounced dead soon after his arrival.
As of now, there have been no arrests, and the identity of the man has not been disclosed. The Chicago Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and subsequent car crash that led to this tragic outcome.
