Memphis Police Arrest Suspect After Dramatic Interstate Chase Post West Memphis Bank RobberySource: Google Street View

A dramatic chase involving a bank robbery and stolen car concluded with a suspect's arrest in downtown Memphis, officials say. The sequence of events unfolded on Friday when West Memphis Police were alerted to an armed robbery at Evolve Bank and Trust. An individual had fled the West Memphis bank location in a black Infiniti at approximately 11:15 a.m, as reported by KAIT8.

Various law enforcement agencies collaborated in the pursuit, which saw the suspect speed across the bridge from Arkansas to Tennessee. The chase ended when the suspect crashed on Riverside Drive and was detained by Memphis Police. According to WREG, the arrest occurred near the RiverBeat Music Festival's kickoff, creating a tense backdrop to the festival's opening.

Police have yet to release the name of the suspect, who was apprehended after a foot chase that concluded at 11:50 a.m. The Evolve Bank was not the only victim of the suspect's actions; the Infiniti he used as a getaway vehicle had been lifted from Fresh Market in Midtown Memphis the day before, along with a 15-year-old German Shepherd-Husky mix named Yoshi. "I ran in the store for about 10 minutes and when I returned, my car and dog were gone," the pet's distraught owner, Lynn Bugg, recounted in a statement obtained by WREG.

The police have not filed charges as of yet, but the investigation continues as the authorities work to tie up the loose ends of the case. Sadly, Yoshi remains missing, and the community has been alerted to keep a lookout for the aging canine. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward to aid in the resolution of an incident that has shaken the local area, as mentioned by Action News 5.
