Two teenagers are facing serious charges after Memphis Police caught them in a stolen vehicle, leading to a slew of auto burglary accusations in the city. The teens, ages 15 and 17, were apprehended on Wednesday when officers spotted them in a black Kia Forte that had been reported stolen just days prior, FOX13 Memphis reports.
Authorities have since linked the pair to a series of car break-ins across Memphis. The 17-year-old is facing 42 counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, among other charges, according to WREG. Alongside theft and evasion charges, the young man is also accused of possessing burglary tools, and drug paraphernalia, the reports suggest that the teens could be tied to even more crimes in the area.
The 15-year-old has been charged with auto theft, evading arrest on foot, and intentionally evading arrest in an automobile. Both teens were inside the stolen car when members from various police task forces, including the Memphis Police Department Organized Crime Unit Auto Theft Task Force, took them into custody near New Allen Road and Scenic Highway, as per information from Action News 5.
