
The city of Memphis is bracing for a medley of weather conditions, starting with bright skies today before potentially stormy patterns head in for the weekend. According to a forecast by the National Weather Service, residents can expect mostly sunny weather with a high of 79 degrees, accompanied by a gentle north-northwest breeze around 10 mph.
By tonight, the skies are predicted to stay mostly clear, dropping to a comfortable 63 degrees. The calm ambiance, however, won't last until the end of the week. Thursday will bring balmy temperatures of up to 86 degrees, but it'll be Thursday night when the chance for showers and thunderstorms jumps to 40 percent after 1 a.m., with mostly cloudy conditions setting the stage.
The weather will take a wet turn on Friday, with forecasters predicting showers and possibly a thunderstorm, where the mercury is slated to hit near 78 degrees. "Chance of precipitation is 80%," warned the National Weather Service, with new rainfall amounts estimated between a quarter and a half of an inch.
Heading into Friday night, the likelihood of raindrops but does not disappear, with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before the witching hour. The weekend will kick off with a mild threat of rain and a slightly increased high of 82 degrees on Saturday, as gusts shift from the southwest to the northwest throughout the afternoon.
Sunday promises to deliver clear skies and a toasty high of around 88 degrees, a trend that seems to persist into Monday with a forecasted high of 89 degrees. Even as Tuesday rolls around, despite a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms disrupting the mostly sunny outlook, the temperatures are expected to remain high at 89 degrees.
