Miami got a soaking this morning with heavy rains lashing across the region from Hallandale Beach to North Miami, showering areas like Downtown Miami, Doral, and Hialeah with up to two inches of rainfall, but the flood advisory that had locals on edge has finally been lifted, according to NBC Miami.
The downpour, which complicated the morning rush on highways like the Dolphin, Palmetto and I-95 making for a tricky commute has since eased, but the wet weather isn't done yet, forecasts suggest more rain could reign later, potentially firing up inland post-lunch before drifting west as the sky clears, hitting highs in the mid-80s, the site added.
Looking ahead, The National Weather Service predicts a mix of sun and clouds with a continuing, though decreased, chance of showers and thunderstorms hovering around 20 percent for the evenings and early mornings; the weather throughout the week and into the weekend should mellow out to a more "docile pattern."
With the humidity sticking to the air like a wet blanket, locals should brace for a steamy stretch despite the retreat of storm chances, Miami will remain mostly sunny with slightly gusty east winds, temperatures are expected to settle comfortably in the low 80s, giving some respite from the sweltering heat, though the nights will be hardly cooler lingering around the mid-70s.
