A Miami woman, known for packing a punch in the boxing ring and lifting heavy weights, was arrested this week for allegedly hacking into her ex's computer and distributing nude photos of his current girlfriend. Stefi Cohen, a pro boxer and powerlifter with a substantial online following, is facing a string of charges following her arrest on charges of cyber-related crimes.
According to a report from WSVN, the accused, 32-year-old Cohen, is said to have gained unauthorized access to her ex-boyfriend’s laptop and iCloud account by guessing the password. Stefi Cohen, sharing the pictures with group chats, sought to reportedly embarrass the female victim in a clear act of revenge, while walking in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood on Tuesday, police said Cohen resisted arrest and subsequently attempted to flee.
In an added twist to the story, local station Local 10 reports Cohen, who is allegedly no stranger to conflict inside the ring, took that fighting spirit to the streets during her arrest. After being informed that she was under arrest, Cohen "did not comply and began to walk at fast pace back to her residence," exhibiting a tenacious grip on freedom, not unlike the one she applies to her opponent's wrists.
As the arresting officers encountered resistance, the strong-willed athlete "right leg hooked" one of them in an attempt to "sweep him off his feet," said authorities. When placed in the back of a squad car, Cohen "placed her right leg on the latch to unlock the door and grabbed it with her toes," then "pulled the latch with her toes and intentionally broke the locking system," further demonstrating her resolve. While in custody, Cohen refrained from commenting on the case, officers noted.
Charges against the fitness influencer include unauthorized access to a computer—a felony—as well as misdemeanor sexual cyberharassment, criminal mischief, and a municipal violating resisting arrest. Cohen's arrest story has been inflamed by her celebrity status in the fitness industry, with a personal following that exceeds over a million on Instagram and a reputation bolstered by a history of international accolades in powerlifting. As of Wednesday morning, jail records indicated that Cohen remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, her bond set at $3,300.
